Advising Interest Groups

Here at UNC Charlotte, we are strategic about our undergraduate advising.  To instill an open and collaborative environment with our advisors, we have created forums to encourage active participation.

Academic Advising Improvement Team

Formed in 1996, the Academic Advising Improvement Team (AAIT) is an informal group that meets to share updates and discuss issues to improve the quality of undergraduate academic advising. Chaired by Ms. Henrietta Thomas, Director of the University Advising Center, this group has 40-50 advisors who attend periodic meetings. If you would like to get involved with the AAIT, please contact Henrietta via email at hlthomas@uncc.edu.

Academic Affairs listserv

The Academic Affairs listserv is used to send important information regarding undergraduate advising, such as the descriptions and schedule for academic advisor development seminars.  To receive emails from the Office of Academic Affairs, please request to be put on your department’s listserv.

Academic Advising Steering Committee

The Academic Advising Steering Committee (formerly known as the Advising Redesign Team) was established in 2007 to examine systemic problem areas and offer improvements to undergraduate academic advising.  Chaired by Dr. John Smail, Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies, this group meets once a month during the academic year and currently has approximately 20 active members.
